One of the ships you really never see on screen. Saladin class destroyers are low-warp capable light combat ships. This was the Federation's version of a PT boat. Mostly I built it as practice, and as a stepping stone to a constitution class heavy cruiser like the Enterprise from the Original Series.
It IS fully armed with substantial AM cannon arrays and BB Torpedoes. It has decks and walkways. It even has a pretty engine room built into the single warp-nacelle.
My son asked what the dish on the front is for. It's a deflector, meant to shove space-dust out of the way as the ship attains high speeds. At .25c a tiny bit of rock can make a nasty hole in your hull.
The new version improves power generation, and improved hull styling.
