The Prometheus class was created to evoke the Earth legend about the titan Prometheus who defied the gods to bring fire to humans. It doesn't take much imagination to see this sleek war engine "bestowing fire" in a far less benevolent sense.The Prometheus was developed as a reaction to the mounting threats of the 24th century that made the 22nd and 22rd seem positively peaceful. Prometheus is actually three nested warp-capable warships, sharing redundant power, shielding and drive systems when connected, or separating and pressing the attack from multiple vectors. The Prometheus was said to be capable of easily disabling a Romulan D'diridex more than twice her size.
Unfortunately, current star-made docking dynamics do not yet allow this level of coolness. But I have a special request from my son... so this ship is likely to happen sooner rather than later.
