Constitution Class: Refit, Rebuilt, Retextured

This is my third rework of the Movie era Constitution class star ship from the Star Trek Universe.  I've been working on it for weeks, and it is a labor of love.

Design Features:

  • Fully re-modeled with Starmade V0.1 blocks
  • Similarly redesigned Shuttlecraft based on those from the movies
  • Core-lance AMC Meta-arrays
  • High mass-efficiency power arrays
  • High mass-efficiency thrust using new .04 engine algorithms
  • Modeled Bridge, Engine room, Medical bay, Shuttle Bay.
  • Decks on all sections.
  • More detailed paint work
  • 25 Recessed turrets defend your aft while preserving the aesthetics
  • All external doors are airlocked
  • Airlocks contain Gravity controls
  • Jump tubes to easily move between decks.
  • Full 1:1 scale
  • Hand-built from blueprints

In Honor of the Equinox

Nova Class:  A mid-range explorer and planetary survey craft.  Not for deep-range exploration... Like to the delta quadrant.  No, really.  Don't do it.

Nova Refit: Interdictor.  A later refit model of the nova, replaces the fore-sensor array and auxiliary deflector dish with an energy drain beam.  This is a light pt-boat, not a major combat craft.  If you have a smuggler problem, great.  If you have a military incursion, flee.

Nova Carrier:  A variant of the Nova with down-swept nacelles, and a large outboard docking frame capable of supporting a single modular mission plate.

Soyuz

Based on the Miranda, The Soyuz adds a large extension to the rear of the hull, and  four outboard non-engine nacelles.  Whether those are sensor pods or large fixed canon emplacements seems to vary with the source.

Rickover Class: Tactical Logistics Carrier

The Rickover tactical logistics carrier is an automated materiel delivery system.  These ships are meant to function with minimal or no crew, freeing ships of the line from the mundane work of logistical support. More than just a freighter, the Rickover is designed to be a military asset.  12 of her docking ports are powered and articulated to accept the same turrets installed on federation warships.  This allowed the Rickover to deliver even valuable supplies without a destroyer escort.

The class is named for Hyman G Rickover, a Terran wet-navy admiral of the 20th century.
“Bitter experience in war has taught the maxim that the art of war is the art of the logistically feasible.”  -- Admiral Hyman Rickover, USN

U.S.S Peregrine (fully loaded)

The U.S.S Peregrine is wildly non-canon, but she has such a plausible backstory, and beautiful lines that she needed to be made.

The premise is that Starfleet engineers tried and failed to adapt Romulan cloaking technology to Federation ships.  They could get it working briefly.. as Montgomery Scott did with a stolen cloaking device in "The Enterprise Incident" (TOS), but federation power systems simply couldn't adapt to the demands of the device.    In one of the attempts, it was postulated that perhaps the shape of the Romulan ships made cloaking easier.  The U.S.S Peregrine was constructed in order to test that Hypothesis.   The shape didn't help with cloaking, although the ship itself was a complete success in all other respects.  The fact that only one of the type was ever constructed has nothing to do with any design flaw, but may have more to do with a reluctance on the part of Starfleet to pay the Romulans so obvious and sincere a compliment as to imitate their signature cruiser design.

Miranda Class: Ticonderoga Variant

The Ticonderoga is a sub-class of the Miranda.    She boasts two additional outboard AMC arrays, but sacrifices  the "rollbar" and its torpedo (missile) arrays.

Miranda Class: Apache Variant

The Apache is a sub-class of the Miranda.   While the Standard Miranda might be slightly starved for energy, the Apache does not suffer from that malady.  She boasts 4 warp nacelles, increasing her speed and her energy output.  She also has two additional outboard AMC arrays

MMP: Longboat

The Longboat is a planetary exploration and supply vessel, designed to be carried between star systems by a larger vessel.  It is neatly scaled for hull transportation on ships designed for the purpose such as the Miranda, Soyuz, or Ticonderoga.

TMP Miranda, New Version

For those who have been following my efforts, I have never been more pleased or proud of one of my ships than I am of the new Miranda.  The new blocks smooth the hull beautifully.  The interior is much more developed.  I've learned new tricks and added new features.   This ship will set the standard for my future efforts.

Note!  This was created under StarMade pre-release 0.107.  I have no idea how it will behave under older versions.

TOS Miranda Version 5

The existence of an "original series" version of the Miranda class is NOT cannon to the star-trek universe, and is a matter of some debate among the Trek geeks. It is not my intent to express an opinion, just to build a fun and pretty ship.  My previous build of this ship was based more closely on the Reliant from the Wrath of Khan.  This version is a lot closer to the TOS styling and vision of Matt Jeffries.

Star Trek 1:1 Automated Weapons Platforms

The Automated Weapons Platform (AWP) is an attempt to build the combat capabilities of a main-line starship into a framework which is inexpensive, customizable, and  functionally disposable. The AWP series are purpose built, from existing mass-produced parts.  The reactor and engineering section is from a sublight tug.  The nacelles are standard for light scouts of the era.  The turrets are standard base turrets.  Redundant deflectors allow the craft to more easily push through combat debris like a  heavier craft.

Star Trek: Mirror Temugin

(not canon, but canon-compatible)

5 AM cannon arrays:
2x 656 default damage
2x 756 default damage
1x 1843 default damage

14 large turrets:  8 dorsal, 6 ventral
6 small turrets

In the mirror universe timeline from Star Trek, the militaristic Terran Empire was engaged in a process of demilitarization and reform under the influence of its version of Mr. Spock.  This was a good idea at the worst possible time.  The most powerful refutation of Spock's reforms came in the form of "The Alliance", a union of the Klingon and Cardassian empires.  Temugin was built as an answer to that threat.

Shipyard 60

The shipyard 60 in foreground with the faint
shipyard 120 under construction in the background.

The Star Trek franchise often shows ships in an orbiting "Space Drydock".  These construction, repair and maintenance facilities are both the birth cradles and the hospitals for craft whose size or structure rules out construction under planetary gravity.

This is the first and smallest planned shipyard.  It is meant to house ships whose Length, Width and Height are all less than 240x120x60 meters.

In the late 24th century the Nova was commissioned as a class of  small planetary research vessels.  One of the class, featured prominently in a two part series of Voyager episodes "Equinox" parts 1 and 2.

Star Trek: Miranda Class Refit

LxHxW = 242x72x143
Power:6647172.6 (1139673.7 e/s)
Thrust 29027.2
Shields 354016 (7769 s/sec) Recovery: 3

The Miranda class is best known as the prototype for the Reliant, The ship hijacked by Kahn Singh in the motion picture "The Wrath of Kahn".  Miranda shares many of the same stylistic elements from the refitted Constitution class, but in a more compact form with the secondary hull integrated into the disk shaped primary hull that was the signature element of most Federation ships.

The Federation did not always come in peace.

The Federation at this point in Trek history was desperately trying to get a 4 nacelle design to work... This was one of their failed test platforms.  The problem wasn't actually the engines, or the design itself.  the problem was that they didn't have fast enough computer control to keep four nacelles balanced.  Instabilities were amplified in the four field system....    They just didn't have the tech at the time.  Ships like this were just as fast as hoped, until the engines went suddenly and violently out of phase, causing different parts of the ship to attain different warp factors, in one case scattering parts and crew over three light years.  So what do you do with a ship with two extra... make that redundant engines that can still be used to generate power, or can take over for the main engines should they be damaged?

Why, you slap some base turrets on there and don't tell the Vulcans!  That's what you do!

Star Trek: Antares class

http://star-made.org/node/10571

(non cannon!  I'm totally making shit up! )

Mass: 11672.2
LxHxW = 307x35x142
Power:1129629 (1171015.3 e/s)
Thrust 19632.7
Shields 277841 (6525 s/sec) Recovery: 3

In the TOS era, Antares class ships were mid-range survey ships.  Agile, but not outfitted for serious combat.  As the federation expanded, covering more worlds and more territory, exploring for resources was left to private enterprise, as Star Fleet shouldered the growing role of peacekeeper.  The Antares class fleet were called in for refit as frigates.

Star Trek Constitution II or Enterprise Class

http://star-made.org/node/10384
Photo
Mass: 14139.6
LxWxH = 307x73x142
Power:1996590 (1165490.5 e/s)
Thrust 19632.7
Shields 285355 (6652 s/sec) Recovery: 3.0

Although it was OK for the production values and budget of the original television series, the original Enterprise would have seemed underwhelming on the big screen.  To bring the old girl into her new medium in "The Motion Picture", she underwent a "refit" that seems to be nothing short of a frame-up rebuild.  At very least the entire secondary hull, warp nacelles, and the bridge module of the primary hull were entirely replaced.  It's not common knowledge, but separating the saucer section was not a new trick for the enterprise D.  The original enterprise had the capability as an emergency measure.  I suspect the new secondary hull and nacelles were built separately, then the original primary hull could have been separated and attached to the new structure, making this technically the same ship even if 60% of her mass had been replaced.

Star Trek (movies+) K't'inga

Photohttp://star-made.org/node/9600

Mass: 7988.2
LxWxH = 218x63x138
Power:1102492.6 (1073558.3 e/s)
Thrust 21620
Shields 322789 (7269 s/sec) Recovery: 3.0

The K't'inga was the "new" Klingon ship designed for "The Motion Picture".  It really is substantially similar to the D7.  It's supposed to be a new ship model, rather than a retrofitted older craft, but it bears a lot closer resemblance to the D7 than does the "refitted" enterprise to its appearance in the original series.
