The D7 Cruiser was the standard enemy ship of the original Star Trek series. Designed by Walter "Matt" Jeffries to evoke the threatening lines of a manta-ray these ships became the instantly recognizable face of the enemy.
Within the story, the D7 was a tried and true work-horse warship. The basic design had served for centuries with only minimal refinement, and the D7 did everything the Klingon empire asked of it, took a beating, and asked little in return.
