Constitution Class: Refit, Rebuilt, Retextured

This is my third rework of the Movie era Constitution class star ship from the Star Trek Universe.  I've been working on it for weeks, and it is a labor of love.

Design Features:

  • Fully re-modeled with Starmade V0.1 blocks
  • Similarly redesigned Shuttlecraft based on those from the movies
  • Core-lance AMC Meta-arrays
  • High mass-efficiency power arrays
  • High mass-efficiency thrust using new .04 engine algorithms
  • Modeled Bridge, Engine room, Medical bay, Shuttle Bay.
  • Decks on all sections.
  • More detailed paint work
  • 25 Recessed turrets defend your aft while preserving the aesthetics
  • All external doors are airlocked
  • Airlocks contain Gravity controls
  • Jump tubes to easily move between decks.
  • Full 1:1 scale
  • Hand-built from blueprints

In Honor of the Equinox

Nova Class:  A mid-range explorer and planetary survey craft.  Not for deep-range exploration... Like to the delta quadrant.  No, really.  Don't do it.

Nova Refit: Interdictor.  A later refit model of the nova, replaces the fore-sensor array and auxiliary deflector dish with an energy drain beam.  This is a light pt-boat, not a major combat craft.  If you have a smuggler problem, great.  If you have a military incursion, flee.

Nova Carrier:  A variant of the Nova with down-swept nacelles, and a large outboard docking frame capable of supporting a single modular mission plate.

2001: A Quick Space Build

So thinking in purely practical terms I created a simple utilitarian EVA and cargo management pod for the Rickover class that I published earlier today.  As I finished, I realized that the thing looked familiar.  OF COURSE! I had recreated another simple utilitarian EVA and utility pod.  Only difference was that mine was yellow.   So a quick coat of white paint and Voila!  An EVA pod from 2001: A Space Oddyssey.  Now all our Daves can feel right at home.

Soyuz

Based on the Miranda, The Soyuz adds a large extension to the rear of the hull, and  four outboard non-engine nacelles.  Whether those are sensor pods or large fixed canon emplacements seems to vary with the source.

TMP Miranda, New Version

For those who have been following my efforts, I have never been more pleased or proud of one of my ships than I am of the new Miranda.  The new blocks smooth the hull beautifully.  The interior is much more developed.  I've learned new tricks and added new features.   This ship will set the standard for my future efforts.

Note!  This was created under StarMade pre-release 0.107.  I have no idea how it will behave under older versions.

TOS Miranda Version 5

The existence of an "original series" version of the Miranda class is NOT cannon to the star-trek universe, and is a matter of some debate among the Trek geeks. It is not my intent to express an opinion, just to build a fun and pretty ship.  My previous build of this ship was based more closely on the Reliant from the Wrath of Khan.  This version is a lot closer to the TOS styling and vision of Matt Jeffries.

Hello, friend!  Do you have valuables that need to be sold?  Do you have needs that need to be filled?  Is your wife just the wrong shade of green?  Well, the Orion Syndicate is here to help!  You will find our representatives throughout your sector.  If approached by one of our ships, do not be put off by their severe appearance or heavy weapons.  They are only interested in protecting you and your valuables... If you or your valuables (including your unfortunately tinted wife) seem ... vulnerable...  They will make sure you are escorted to one of our well defended nearby trading centers, for your own safety of course.

Star Trek Constitution II or Enterprise Class

http://star-made.org/node/10384

Mass: 14139.6
LxWxH = 307x73x142
Power:1996590 (1165490.5 e/s)
Thrust 19632.7
Shields 285355 (6652 s/sec) Recovery: 3.0

Although it was OK for the production values and budget of the original television series, the original Enterprise would have seemed underwhelming on the big screen.  To bring the old girl into her new medium in "The Motion Picture", she underwent a "refit" that seems to be nothing short of a frame-up rebuild.  At very least the entire secondary hull, warp nacelles, and the bridge module of the primary hull were entirely replaced.  It's not common knowledge, but separating the saucer section was not a new trick for the enterprise D.  The original enterprise had the capability as an emergency measure.  I suspect the new secondary hull and nacelles were built separately, then the original primary hull could have been separated and attached to the new structure, making this technically the same ship even if 60% of her mass had been replaced.

Star Trek (movies+) K't'inga

Mass: 7988.2

Power:1102492.6 (1073558.3 e/s)
Thrust 21620
Shields 322789 (7269 s/sec) Recovery: 3.0

The K't'inga was the "new" Klingon ship designed for "The Motion Picture".  It really is substantially similar to the D7.  It's supposed to be a new ship model, rather than a retrofitted older craft, but it bears a lot closer resemblance to the D7 than does the "refitted" enterprise to its appearance in the original series.

The D7 Cruiser was the standard enemy ship of the original Star Trek series.  Designed by Walter "Matt" Jeffries to evoke the threatening lines of a manta-ray these ships became the instantly recognizable face of the enemy.

Thrust: 14613.6

I've been working up to this one for a while. I wanted to give this ship a really respectful treatment. For a lot of people this is THE starship. This is the Constitution class starship exemplified by the iconic USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) from the original 1964 "Star Trek" television series.   All credit to Walter Matt Jeffries for the original concept and design from which I worked as closely as I could manage.

Star Trek TOS Saladin Class

TOS Saladin class

Mass: 10916.3
LxHxW: 261x71x148
Power Capacity: 4687480.3
Power Generation: 1081294 e/sec
Thrust: 14405.6
Shields 112106 (3394 s/sec) Recovery:2

One of the ships you really never see on screen. Saladin class destroyers are low-warp capable light combat ships. This was the Federation's version of a PT boat. Mostly I built it as practice, and as a stepping stone to a constitution class heavy cruiser like the Enterprise from the Original Series.

Star Trek Defiant Class

Faction: Federation
Era: TNG

Mass: 4484.2
LxWxH = 122x23x92
Power:1345156 (433336.3e/s)
Thrust 7394.4
Shields 51365 (1935 s/sec) Recovery: 1
(not to be confused with the TOS constitution class star ship of the same name NCC-1764)

The Defiant class was designed as a "Borg fighter" It was therefore exceptionally tough and well armed for its size and incorporated the latest technologies.

Star Trek NX Class Refit

Faction: Starfleet/Federation
Era: Enterprise

Mass: 12035.6
LxHxW = 228x67x132
Power:325540 (1068041.5 e/s)
Thrust 11359.3
Shields 87113.0 (2831 s/sec) Recovery: 2

The Original NX class,  but adds a secondary hull. The story, as I understand it, is that had the program “Enterprise” aired a fifth season, the eponymous ship would have been fitted with a new “Warp 7” engine. The trouble is that the new engine did not fit in the engineering bay for the old “Warp 5” engine. The engineering solution was to build a new secondary hull onto the bottom of the ship, housing the new over-sized engineering section and warp core. If you look closely at the aft section of the secondary hull you will see an odd structure that looks like a shuttle or something that should detach. That’s the housing for the intermix chamber of the engine core. This ship was designed to eject the whole section in the case of an impending core breach. For this model it’s only decorative. Don’t try ejecting your core, it won’t help.

Star Trek NX Class Version 2

StarTrek1to1_NX_Rebuild http://star-made.org/node/8359

Mass: 10570
LxWxH = 266x53x132
Power:72463.6 (1047337.7 e/s)
Thrust 11359.3
Shields 87113 (2831s/sec) Recovery: 2.0

Please remember (you bloody war-mongers) just because your ship is covered in weapons and turret mount points does NOT mean you are supposed to shoot first and negotiate later.. Say it with me “We come in peace!”
